New Forest Holiday Cottage Attains 3 Star Grading

Uplay holiday cottage in the new forest yesterday received a strong 3 star rating from the English Tourism Council inspector (aka 'VisitBritain', VisitEngland', 'VisitEngland.net', English Tourist Board' - I can't keep up with it....).

Obviously we're very pleased and a big thank you goes to the local new forest decorators from F J Lockley Ltd who have done a lovely job.

Snow in the New Forest!

Okay, so it wasn't that much snow. It was a couple of flakes. By the time I'd looked out of the window the skies were blue - sounds like a "Michael Fish" forecast to me.....

It is 2 degrees Centigrade here though, so maybe they'll surprise us with snow today - the picture of the cottage wasn't taken today - rumbled - it was a couple of years back when we had snow sometime around Christmas...maybe, just maybe....

Redecoration of Uplay Holiday Cottage Nearing Completion.

Work to Uplay Holiday Cottage is now nearing completion, with lots of internal decoration being carried out either side of the Christmas period. New pictures will be posted over the next few weeks and I'll notify once they're uploaded to Uplay's webpage.

Hampshire Holiday Cottages Christmas Are Going...

Hampshire Holiday Cottages Christmas 2007 Are Going...Going...

Hitting the New Year running, we've already sold 3 of our Christmas and New Year breaks for the festive season 2007. Crimbo seemed to go well this year with positive feedback from guests - the locally handmade, decorative holly wreaths and candle table decorations were well received and I think we'll keep doing this in future, a really nice, traditional touch that seems to be appreciated. And they all came from 'renewable locally sourced timber'! The lady who produces them grows her own holly!

You can see a wreath here to the side of the door of The Old Stables, in Hampshire

Holiday Cotage Waste Policy

We've now finalised our arrangements for waste at our larger cottages - SITA have been contracted to provide 1100 litre bins for refuse, with detailed information being provided in information packs at the cottages for our guests on waste/refuse removal, days for collection, extra charges for excess refuse etc.

Storms in the New Forest

I'd like to be able to say it's still sunny here, but no, not since yesterday, when we had dazzling blue skies most of the afternoon. Now, we've got a real howler on the go!
